Coach Knoop

                                                   

                                             Coach  Knoop began his football playing career at our rival Burbank High School (1978-81) He received All Foothill honors his senior year.

 On to Glendale College (1981-82) where he was All Western States Conference for two years and is still in the record books there for sacks in a season. In 1982 Glendale College played to an 8-2 record going undefeated in league and playing in the South Bay Bowl.

Coach Knoop received a scholarship to San Joe State University (1983-85) where he played for Jack Elway and Claude Gilbert.

 After coming home from college he joined the staff at Chaminade High School (1987) and coached defensive line for Rich Lawson, where they went 11-3 and lost to Woodbridge in the CIF finals.

 In 1988 he had a great opportunity to go back to Glendale College (1988-92) and coach defensive line and help coordinate the defense for Jim Sartoris and John Cicuto. During that time they went to 3 bowl games in 1990 Glendale finished 10th in the nation in the JC polls.

In 1993 and while completing his teaching credential at CSUN, a job at John Burroughs High School opened to coach Defensive line for the new coach Gary Bernardi . That year the Indians went 6-5 and played Huntington Beach in the playoff.

In 1994 Robert Dos Remedios became the head coach and Coach Knoop took over as Defensive coordinator and within two year the Indians were playing for a championship which they lost to Hart.

In 1997 Coach Knoop took over as head coach at John Burroughs and has led the helm. As of 2008 he has the second longest tenure as head coach. Since that time the Indians have been to the playoffs six times and won the Pacific league championship in 2006. Coach Knoop is married to Julie Knoop who teaches Anatomy & Physiology and Marine biology at Burroughs and is the teams filmer. They have two dogs, Knoop Rockne and Shasta.
